What is the syntax of a query?

Simply type a few words describing what you are looking for in the [Search For] box, and click [Find It!]. You can also search for combined terms (exact phrases) by surrounding them in quotes.

Example searches include:

"chat rooms" Christian
staff contact information
"scheduled events" games "chat room"

A sequence of words not in quotes implicitly specifies an "OR" relationship, so that PicoSearch will retrieve the best documents that match the query by weighing all of the results. If all of the search words are found in a document, that document will be weighted appropriately higher than a document which contains only a couple of those words. PicoSearch uses a Fuzzy-Match algorithm; we weight all of the words that are searched so that your users will get the best match for the information that they are seeking.

What is "results in context" (also known as concordance), and what are its advantages?

Concordance is a method used to show the context of each term that is searched for. When you launch a search using our site, we first weigh all of the JesusCafe web pages to find those that are the most relevant. Then we look up the specific words that you are searching. This service is above and beyond what any traditional search engine can offer, and makes full use of some very advanced and efficient technologies. This allows you to see immediately whether or not the discovered web pages really contain the answers to what you were looking for, without having to follow every link and scan every web page.
