Teen Dating Abuse I am currently involved in a play that deals with teen dating abuse. It is a very serious issue, and I have learned a lot. I want to share some things I have learned. I will be discussing three types of abuse. They are: 1. Physical abuse Before I continue let me explain what abuse is. Abuse is anything that is used to gain control over someone else. It usually starts out small, and then grows. Also, abuse can take place in any relationship, even friendships. Physical abuse- Sometimes it starts out as a pinch, push or a jerk, which is followed by slapping and punching. When abuse starts, in most cases, it will take a while before it gets worse. Unless you stop it, it WILL get worse. Verbal abuse - You can never take back the words you say, and how you made someone feel. As with any type of abuse, the abuser makes promises to stop the abuse. This isn't the case, "I'm sorry" just leads to more abuse. Emotional abuse - This goes with verbal abuse also. People say things that can hurt others for a long time. These types of bruises do not heal quickly or easily. If you think you are in an abusive relationship, here are some warning signs you need to watch out for: WARNING SIGNS
What do you do if you, or someone you know, is in an abusive relationship? You should talk to an adult you trust. You should also use the best tool you have: prayer.
