Is it the gifts or the tree? Do you know what it could be? Maybe it's all about Christ Who later died on the cross as a sacrifice. It's okay for the gifts and the tree, Just don't forget about Bethlehem and Calvary. I was inspired to write this poem about the true meaning of Christmas when I was 10 years old. Christmas is a very special time of year to me, filled with many memories, even in my young life. Each year my parents added a creative twist to Christmas, to help my brothers and I focus on the true meaning of the season. The presents were nice, and the decorations were great, but I always looked forward to the unique things my parents would do to put our focus on what Christmas really meant. One year it would be a treasure hunt, the next year it would be a riddle to solve, but each time the outcome would direct us to the Bible. The lessons I learned from these activities have given me the fondest memories. It seems today that everyone is so busy this time of year searching here and there for that perfect gift. Kids want this and that, people go from store to store, we all get caught up in giving or expecting a gift, that we forget that the greatest gift of all, is that God sent His Son, Jesus to die for us, so that we might have eternal life. From my perspective it's not too hard to keep the Christ in Christmas. One can make a treasure hunt, or a game, with the message of Jesus Christ being the outcome, like my parents used to do. We can share a kind word or gesture that points someone to Christ, or volunteer our time to help out someone who is less fortunate then ourselves. Whatever you do take some time and effort to show your family, friends, and the people around you that Jesus is the reason for the season! Respond: What do you think?
